APOCALYPTO (2006) (c)

"We should go to the forest to find a new beginning."

Comment:
This is what happening to the world right now. The world seems to go back to the forest to find a new beginig. After we exploited the forest brutally, We all go back to it to find shelter. We now understand that forests protect us from global warming, they provide alternative fuel and protect us from floods and landslide. Back the industrial era, people cut down most of the forests to build factory. Nowadays, in the information era, leaders start talking about how to preserve forests. I really do not understand. Is this away to find a new beginning after all the technology failed to save human being from their own nature?

Summary of the Movie:
Powerful Maya kingdoms ruled in the Americas for more than 1,000 years, forging expansive cities, constructing sky piercing pyramids and building an impressively advance society of extraordinary cultural and scientific achievement. Then, in a flash of history, this world collapsed. All that was left behind were a few jungle –covered pyramids and a tantalizing mystery. Now, 500 years after the end of the Mayan civilization, director Mel Gibson delves into this never explored realm to create a modern screen adventure which unfolds like a timeless myth about one man’s quest to save that which matters to him the most in the world on the brink of destruction.

APOCALYPTO (2006) (b)

"Fear is sickness. It will crawl into the soul of everyone who engages it. It has tainted your peace already. I did not raise you to see you with fear. Strike it from your heart do not bring it into our village."

Comment:
If you are fear then you are sick. You start losing your peace. Fear will knock you down and turn you to ashes if you do not conquer it first. To be fear is human but unable to fight it, then it will haunt you and all the people that involve with you.

Comment:
Be peace and we will be pleased. Find comfort to one another. Whenever there is a war, the motto “an eye for an eye” is there as well. Thus, there will be a never ending war. Establish peace in your heart so that you’re your neighborhood can feel the influence you bring. And in the end, your great civilization lasts.

SHREK THE THIRD (2007)

““Who really thinks we need to settle things this way? You’re telling me that you just wanna be villains your whole life?”
“But we are villains”
“Don’t you ever wish to be something else?”
“It’s easy for you to say”
“OK. That’s fair enough. All right I’m not a talking tree, but you know, a good friend of mine once told me that just because people treat you like a villain or ogre or just some loser, it doesn’t mean that you are one. The thing that matters most is what you think of yourselves. There’s something you really want? Or something you really wanna be? Then the only person standing in your way is you.””

Comment:
Don’t we ever get tired of being a loser and unappreciated? We are bored with routine. We want to be free as an eagle upon the sky. We want to touch the clouds. But, then we re-think again impossibility block our ways and break our wings. We get back to the routine again. We give up to the routine again. Why do we always end up at the same place? Because we think and we do not act. Erase the impossibility from your hemisphere memory. People went to the moon because they thought they can and they did it. You are an arrow. Pick your target and hit it hard.

I AM LEGEND (2007)

“He had this idea, kind of a virologist idea. He believed that you can cure racist, I mean hate, literary by injecting music and love in the people’s lives. When he was scheduled to perform a peace rally; the gunmen came to his house and shut them down.
Two days later, he walked on the stage and sang. Somebody asked him “why?” He said that people are trying to make this world worse and not taking a day off. How can I? Light up the darkness”.
(Robert Neville told Anna About his favorite singer, Bob Marley)

Comments:
Music is a universal language. We can simply move people through music. Bob Marley knew it exactly and he had done what he could do best. He did a revolution through music. He opened up people’s mind and way of thinking and he changed what their wrong believes. His idea about Lighting up the darkness is a brilliant idea. There is no day off for us to do the right thing every day because people who do bad things never take a vacation. I believe that there is always a hero deep down inside everyone’s heart. Be a hero to save the day. Start your day with full of motivation and always remember to LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS!

Summary of the Movie:

For three years, Neville has spent his days for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, the infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville every move, waiting for him to make fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood.

FORBIDDEN KINGDOM THE (2008)

“They said that music is the bridge between heaven and earth”

Comment:
Can you imagine living life without music? It is like live a life without the heart. We all perish and die. Music is everywhere. In ceremonies, the I-pod in your palm, in the living room, at the office, in your car, while we are cooking, exercises, you name it. Even when I am typing this article I listen to music. Music makes us feel joy, happy, relax and full of spirit. Music unites family, nations, and lovers. When we are united in joy and peace we are all in heaven.

GOSPEL THE (2005)

“We should spend a little less time looking good and a little more time actually being good”

Comment:
This quote completes the previous quote in Miss Congeniality 2. In Miss Congeniality 2 the quotes is about the importance of taking care of oneself. However, taking care oneself is not just about the performance to look good on the outside but also actually being good. We may wonder about the way to be “actually being good” because we have time, financial, or space limitation. Indeed, there are millions of ways to be “actually being good”. A simple smile, a polite language, putting the garbage to the right place, or driving responsibly can be some of the examples. The best and easiest way to change the world is to change ourselves first.

However, when his father becomes ill he returns home to find his father's church in disarray as well as his former best friend, with whom he was studying with for the ministry, now in charge and seemingly caring more about his own image than the welfare of the church or its congregation. Now David must find a way to save the church as well as his own soul.

STUART LITTLE (1999)

“At least you’ve been somewhere”

Comment:
A person who like travelling and try new things in life, I consider this as one of my favorite quotes. Let me share you one thing. Travelling and trying new things do not always end up happily. Sometimes, in travelling we experience bed things such as uncomfortable vehicles, bad taste of foods, or perhaps bad travel companion. Same thing, happens to me when I am trying new things, such as new job, new places, new friends or new hair style. However, they are not always that bad. I always get something from there as a lesson for me to not to do the same mistake in the future again. This has always be the quotes that I will always remember all my life. This is good for my-self amusement.

Summary of the Movie:

In doing so, he shows his beloved new family that great things can truly come in small packages.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUST TOKYO DRIFT (2006)

“Life is simple. You make choices and you don’t look back”

Comment:
I am sure that everyone in this beautiful green planet ever made choices. Well, that is life. We always make choices as long as we are alive. The problem emerges when we make the wrong choice. We regret it feel down, and desperate about the wrong choice we have made. We make life complicate every time it happens to us. This quote is trying to tell us that actually life is simple. Once we have decided to make a choice, and then do the best we can to make our choice work. If in the end, the outcome may be different than what we had wished for then stop looking back and regretting. Find the best way out to make it work the way we want it. Then we will find out that life is actually simple.

For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shaun unknowingly takes on DK, the “Drift King” with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese Crime Machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into to deadly realm of the Tokyo under world where the stakes are life and death.

ELIZABETHTOWN (2005)

“Those who risk, win”

Comment:
Do you know that all of the richest people in this planet are the people who dare to take risk? That is why they become winners. Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. When we understood, risk will become our friend. Life becomes easier to live. When life becomes easy, we can almost get everything we want.

VANILLA SKY (2001)

“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it around”

Comment:
Never regret for the things we have done wrong in the past. Look up ahead instead of looking back ward. There is always a chance for us to fix the fault we did in the past. However, do not wait too long to respond. Do some evaluation. Find the best solution. Time is so precious so turn it around whenever possible. Stop being a loser and start to be a winner

SOMMERSBY (1993)

“Without my name, I don’t have a life”

Comment:
Name is our primary identity. Some people tend to live their names unknown. They had this idea that they got from Shakespeare “what it is a name for?” According to them, name does not matter, what matters is our deed in life. On the other hand, in modern life, name can be a promising selling point. Some people such as celebrities use their names as the commodity to produce lots of money. Companies are competing to build their brands to be the best. The more people catch the name the more money flows into our pockets although we may sometimes lose our privacy. Relating to the quote above, and the modern life we are living, I think we will have a better life if more people know us and our name in every good job we do. Ultimately, everyday is the chance to build our character into a famous brand and a good name as well.

Summary of the Movie:

This Americanized remake of the French classic The Return of Martin Guerre (1982) transports the story's setting from the 16th century Gallic countryside to 19th century Tennessee at the conclusion of the U.S. Civil War. Richard Gere stars as Jack Sommersby, a wealthy landowner who returns to his small cotton farming town of Vine Hill three years after the Civil War's end. The defeated Confederate soldier is ready to resume his past life with his young wife Laurel (Jodie Foster). Thinking her husband long dead, however, Laurel has become engaged to Orin Meecham (Bill Pullman), an arrangement she quickly calls off, enraging and embittering Orin. Soon it becomes evident that his experiences have changed Jack thoroughly. A callous and cruel man widely feared before the war, he is now charming and sensitive, offering financial opportunities to an ex-slave and caring for Laurel and his young son. Jack even persuades the town's citizenry that he can rescue their fortunes by pooling resources and switching Vine Hill's chief crop from cotton to tobacco. Jack's scheme works, but Orin becomes increasingly convinced that Jack is in fact an impostor masquerading as the wealthy Sommersby, a suspicion that the smitten and quickly pregnant Laurel secretly shares. When Jack is arrested and charged with a murder he drunkenly committed years before, the court trial leads to some startling revelations about the past. (Karl Williams, All Movie Guide)

AUTUMN IN NEW YORK (2000)

“Food is the only beautiful thing that truly nursing”

Comment:
I believe that somebody who does the cooking is an artist. Food is the master piece. That’s why in my opinion foods are always beautiful. In my dictionary, there are only two tastes of foods. They are delicious and very delicious. Besides, I agree with the quotes above. Even there are numbers of food supplement and all those stuffs to maintain our health; still food is still the best. I myself prefer homemade foods because we know exactly the process of the cooking and the materials of the food. Finally, if I may suggest, do some respect to the person who prepare for the foods we consume because preparing a menu is not as easy as turning the palm of our hands upside down.

GUARDIAN THE (2006)

“Gettin’ old ain’t bad, Ben. Gettin’ old that’s earned”

Comment:
People nowadays are afraid to get old. They want to be eighteen until they die. We’ve seen a lot of advertisements about anti-aging cosmetic products. There is an opinion that when we grow old we are no longer interesting. We should be grateful for what we have achieved. Use the ability and skill to help younger people to walk in the right path. Show them that we are good models for them. Show them that getting old, being health, wealth and happy are achievements that not everybody can achieve.

Summary of the Movie:
The US Coast Guard version of "Top Gun" with a little "An Officer and A Gentleman" thrown in: an aging USCG rescue swimmer's team is killed in a horrific rescue mission. Immediately prior to this terrible event, his wife also announced that she cannot take anymore. His first love is always the rescue mission. This leaves him an obviously emotional wreck. Comment:
There are two ways in life, the right way and the wrong way. It depends on us to choose. If we decide choose the right thing then the road is going to be tough. MISS CONGENIALITY 2 (2005)

“People care about the people who take care of themselves.”

Comment:
Have we looked at ourselves in the mirror today? I mean really look at ourselves. We sometimes wonder why it is so hard for us to be accepted in a community. The reason can surprise us. It is because we ignore about the way we look. People like people with the same interest. It will be rather doubtful for other people to get involved with somebody who is unable to appreciate him/herself. How would the person take care their relationship or even other people if s/he is being indifference about s/he own performance. Try upgrading your outfit, smile more, and be sympathetic about your surroundings than people will care about you.

BATMAN BEGINS (2005)

“Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick us up”.

Comment:
See…even Batman fell before he became a very popular man in Gotham City and all over the world. He fell, but then he picked himself up. I used to be a loser. I thought that life has no purpose. All that I did always stuck in the end of everything I was working on. I had never got through all the obstacles that I encountered. Now, I realize that all those failure and obstacles in the past are just precious experience that I can use in the present.
What a fortunate that I found this quote. When we were younger we fall many times but we consistently keep on trying every way. As we grow older our fall become a very valuable map to build our golden way.

Comment:
Have you been a good person today? Well, if you haven’t then you better start to be one. Let’s make this life worthwhile because it will be useless if we only live to breathe. Learn new things, find out what you want to know, do what you like the most, and make your time worthwhile. Live every moment with compassion, smile and love. We often ask ourselves “what am I doing?”, “is this what I am after?”, “is this job suitable for me?”, “is s/he the one for me?”, “what the hell is that person doing?”. QUOTES IN MOVIES

Movie is one of the great inventions throughout human being’s history. It is undeniable that movies have become part of our lives. Nowadays, movies can be found and enjoyed in various forms. DVD, Cinema, VCD, tapes, internet, cellular phones or TV. Those are well known media to access movies. It is all up to us. When we want to enjoy it for free, we can simply turn on the TV and going through the channels. When we want it to be cheap we can hunt for piracy movies which are not that difficult to find in some countries. If it is up to date that matters then we can download them from the official web sites on the net.

Movies are produced in many genres and purposes. On one hand, they can be fun, enjoyable, entertaining, meaningful, easy to understand, media to communicate, full of surprise etc. while on the other hand, movies can be boring, provoking, and deceitful.

However, as a movies maniac I do not care about the purpose of why the movies are being produced. All I know is that movies are made to entertain us. Nothing can stop me when I am watching movies. Moreover, I had this crazy idea several years ago. I felt that some lines in the dialogue help me to discover myself and motivate me. For example, quotes such as “at least you’ve been somewhere” (Stuart Little) or “Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick us up” (Batman Begins) always strengthen me whenever I am facing with failures or discourage. Since that moment, movies have become a second bible to me.

Thus, I cannot keep them for myself. I feel like I need to share this quotes to the world. I am sure that some of these quotes have something to do with each of our lives. I hope that this little step may bring change to a better life that in the end may change the world. It is a pleasure to share with you all.
Ultimately, before you go further let me warn you that besides the quotes and the reason why I chose them, there are also the summaries of the movies. This might be a spoiler alert for those who have not had the chance to watch the movies that I put in this blog. Have a nice journey!
