BRIDE WARS (2009)

“Sometimes in life, there really are bond’s form that can’t be broken. Sometimes, you’ll really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what.
Maybe you’ll find it and celebrate it with your dream wedding.
But there’s also a chance that the one person you could count on for a life time.
The one person who knows you…sometimes better than you know yourself is the same person who’s been standing beside you all along.”

Comment:
Talking about the persons who’ve been standing beside us all along, or in this case friends, drives my thought to Facebook in an instant. Though, I am not a Facebook mania, I always feel good every time I sign out of Facebook. Whether we realize it or not, the interaction we get from the relationship with friends in the past somehow leads us back to the unforgettable fun memories we’ve been trough. A couple of days ago I met my high school buddy in Facebook. We hadn’t met since 11 years ago. Finding his profile has led me back to the time when we got drunk in the beach one night and shared our love stories while eating our fried chicken. Man…those glorious high school moments suddenly just popped up in front of me and caused me to feel great. Thus, like a chain reaction, the rest of the day went by in with a good feeling inside of me.

The same thing happened when I coincidently met my first love girlfriend in Facebook. It feels good when we can re-communicate again after we “vanished” in communication for quite a long time, without knowing each other’s story. I felt like I was in love again. And this has turned my day to something beautiful. From this communication with friends, I realized that the influence of friendship is so powerful in our life. This may be the reason why Facebook becomes so famous. Because everyone wants to keep in touch with the persons who’ve been with us all along

Summary of the Movie:

CITY OF EMBER (2008) (a)

“The main thing is, pay attention. Pay close attention to everything, everything you see. Notice what no one else notices. And you’ll know what no one else knows.”

Comment:
Successful people are people who can predict the future and be prepared for it. Carefully, make use of every opportunity.
There is a legend about why God created three look alike animals (donkeys, Horses, and Zebra). It is said that long time ago God saw that humans found it difficult to travel in a long distance while carrying goods. So God decided to send donkeys to help human to travel and to carry. Donkeys became the first animal to help human to travel and to carry. However, God noticed that donkeys weren’t fast and strong enough to help human in their activities. Therefore God sent horses to be human’s partners in their transportation activities. Horses became the best animal to be human’s partner in transportation. But still, humans were too busy and they finally became dull, and again, God understood about it. And so, God sent down Zebras to amuse humans. Zebras became the unique animal to accompany humans to live their lives.
The point that I am trying to convey to you is that pay attention and be grateful for everything around you. Then you will find chances and opportunities. Never be hesitate to take them because intentionally, as the children of God, You could be the first one to find the opportunities, the best one who can take advantage of the opportunities or you could be the unique one in dealing with opportunities. Any way will do.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (2008) (d)

“Be whoever you wanna be. There is no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There’s no rule to this thing. We can make the best of our worst time. I hope you make the best darling.”

Comment:
We, as human being should be grateful that we are given the free will. As long as we are alive and well, we have the same chance to do and be whatever we want to be. And o what a feeling if we could reach the moment when we can be who we want to be. However, it doesn’t mean that we are free to do anything we want. We must be careful, may lose control in using the free will. Therefore, there are rules, laws and religion to help us control our free will so that no body may suffer by other’s free will.

"Arthur Schopenhauer put the puzzle of free will and moral responsibility in these terms:
Everyone believes himself a priori to be perfectly free, even in his individual actions, and thinks that at every moment he can commence another manner of life. ... But a posteriori, through experience, he finds to his astonishment that he is not free, but subjected to necessity, that in spite of all his resolutions and reflections he does not change his conduct, and that from the beginning of his life to the end of it, he must carry out the very character which he himself condemns...." Summary of the Movie:
On the day that Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams nee Fuller is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being born an old man who was diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth, Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met
Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, reconnecting in their forties when in age they finally match up. Some of the revelations in Benjamin's diary are difficult for Caroline to read, especially as it relates to the time past this reconnection between Benjamin and Daisy, when Daisy gets older and Benjamin grows younger into his childhood years. THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (2008) (C)

“There is no age limit as long as you do work.”

Comment:
What would happen to senior people who used to work hard and got so much enjoyed with their job in the past and one day we ask them to quit? They’d feel like time moves so slowly. They’d feel like time is torturing them.
I got this experience whenever my grandfather, an 80 year-old man who couldn’t be far away from his beloved truck came to visit us. Can you imagine? A man as old as him is still driving a truck? Well I have to admit he is the most powerful man in real life compares in all the movies I’ve ever watched. Sitting and doing nothing would be the last thing he wants to do in a day.
In other occasion, I found a woman in her 70s who’s still working as a parking crew in a souvenir shop in Jogjakarta. She does it not for the sake of money, but for the sake of “something to do.”
The point that I’d like to share with all the young people around the globe is that, the spirit. We all must possess the same spirit as what they have. I believe our future will be brighter if we have that sirit within.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (2008) (b)

“It’s not about how you play; it’s about how you feel what you play.”

Comment:
Do you remember when you, for the first time learnt how to dance? You looked at every step you made. You were afraid that you would step on your partner’s foot. But then, as you went along with the music, you became one with the music and your partner as well, you flow with the rhythm and bit of the music. In the end, without you even realizing it, you’d been a very good dancer. Just like a swan dances on the water.
Did you ever wonder how and why you could do it? That’s because you put your feelings in it. When you put your feeling into everything you do, then everything you do will be just perfect. Remember to put your feeling to catch the feel. Feel your day with good feelings and you’ll be dancing though the day in glory and victory.

“Everybody feels different about themselves one way or another. Oh we all born in the same way. The only different is role. That’s all. You have your own role Benjamin.”

Comment:
Keep playing the role of life you are playing, but don’t stop sharing the love. When you play your part, you help the other elements of the system in the world to work. Never look under estimate other people because we are all live under the same sun.

10.000 BC (2008)

But some men have a great destiny. They must draw around themselves a circle that includes many, many more. Your father was one of those men. You must decide for yourself as well.”

Comment:
There’ll be time when every man has to draw a circle. I call it “your call”. Have you drawn your circle? Make your choice and stick to it.

BEDTIME STORIES (2008) (c)

“Like my father said "your fun is only limited by your imagination".”

Comment:
Nothing is limited—not resources or anything else. It is only limited in the human mind. When we open our minds to the unlimited creative power, we will call forth abundance and see and experience a whole new world.
Do you want to have fun? Then start using your imagination, you’ll be surprised to know how big the world is. And yet, it’s free.

Summary of the Movie:
Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce) who raises his son and daughter on his own has to sell his homey motel to clever Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who promises to make Marty's son manager, when he's grown up and has proven himself. Nottingham pulls down the motel to raise a pricey hotel. Although grown up, Marty's son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) works as a janitor and general servant, but unlikely as it seems, he still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new gigantic hotel project, he makes his future son-in-law, base Kendall (Guy Pierce), manager, shattering Skeeter's dream. At the same time Skeeter's sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy's responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to manoeuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too.

BEDTIME STORIES (2008) (b)

“If you wanna be the best you gotta drive the best.”

Comment:
If you feel that you cannot afford the best drive yet, then learn from the best people, pay or even “steal” (get their ideas and customize them) from them. Involve with the best people. As result, the best drive will come after you and you don’t have to after it.

BEDTIME STORIES (2008) (a)

“There are no happy ends in real life, the sooner you guys know it, the better.”

Comment:
There are always happy ends in all the quotesinmovies.blogspot.com readers’ lives. Because we are the people who believe that we can, we are the people with spirit. We will never give up doing good things. In fact, the character who said the line above finally found that he has a happy end life at the end of the movie. Though real life is not a life in the movie but the faith that we all will have a happy end in life are the same.

BANGKOK DANGEROUS (2008) (b)

“The human face can mislead in a thousand different ways. But the eyes never change.”

Comment:
The eyes are the window to the soul. They never lie. According to Deddy Corbuzier, a famous mentalist from Indonesia, in his book “Mantra” (2005), there is a way to find out whether a person lies or not only by looking at his/her eyes.
Basically, there are three points of view of human memory ability. The first one is the visual point of view; it has something to do with the things that are attractive to our eyes. The second one is Hearing. It records things that we heard in the past. And finally there is sense Taste or Feel.
When we are trying to remember things that are related to our sense of sight/visual, our eyes tend to look at upper left side, if they are things about our hearing sense then we tend to look at middle left direction. In addition, whenever we think about some things that influence our feeling or taste, our eyes will look at the lower right direction.
We tend to look at the opposites direction when we are trying to imagine things. For example, when you are trying to imagine about how you will look like if you have mustache and your head is bald, you’ll tend to look at upper right direction. The same things happen to the hearing, and feeling sense. The eyes directions between remember and imagining are contradicted.
Therefore, when we ask someone about the taste of food and the answer is “it’s delicious” but his/her eyes look at the lower right is means he/she is imagining or in other words he/she is making up a reason or he/she is lying.
We cannot simply say that this is a scientific science, however in reality, this phenomenon happens toward the way human brain works.
The eyes never change=the eyes never lie

BANGKOK DANGEROUS (2008) (a)

“The best way to defend yourself is to know when something’s about to happen. You have to learn to read your surroundings.”

Comment:
This quotation reminds me of a Javanese term “Eling”. A couple of years ago, when I was in Jogjakarta, a good friend of mine taught me about Eling. Approximately, Eling is about concise or self awareness and how we control it even in a critical time. Or in other words, Eling means do not be panic in every situation even the worst one.
See… for example method you are about to perform in front of an audience, you feel so nervous. And you get stumble on the cable of the microphones. What will you do? Go back home and forget about the performance like it never happen? No way. You are the center of the attention; find the way to overcome it. Make some joke. Remember to Eling.
The former president of the USA is one of the people who are very good in implementing Eling. When someone threw shoes to him, he managed to avoid it and instead of getting mad and asking SS agents to kill the man, he just stayed calm, proceeded with the speech and even made some jokes. He managed to implement Eling.
There might be a question on how Eling plays its role when we are having a car accident? Well in the case like this, Eling works when at the critical moment, you can make the right decision to swerve the car to the right position. Eling works when you are checking to make sure that everyone in the car you are driving is okay. It works when you go and assure that your surroundings are okay as well. You control you emotion and you control your surroundings.
Finally, I just want to remind you to always Eling wherever you are. Make Eling as your affirmation so that you can control yourself and your surroundings, and when things get worse, you still san control them.
Happy Eling

THE X FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE (2008)

“What if it did work? What if we found we’d made the wrong choice by stopping?”

Comment:
If you are in the middle of something that you enjoy but you are unable to move on. You lost your hope and you are feeling like quit, this quote might somehow refreshes your mind. Ask yourself the question above and let your heart answer it.

RAMBO IV (2008)

“Maybe you’ve lost your faith in people but you must still be faithful to something, you must still care about something. May be we can’t change what it is but trying to save a life isn’t wasting your life, is it?”

Comment:
This quote is perhaps suitable for those who are broken hearted, betrayed, cheated by the persons that they really once trusted. We feel like there is no tomorrow. And when we go to bed we’d only one wish in our mind, that we never wake up again from our sleep. But, it’s too bad. We will still see tomorrow because God knows deep down everyone heart there is always something we care about. And that will be the reason why we still see the sun shines, the birds sing and people smile at us. There is no point in regret about the past. It will only be wasting your time. There is much you can do to improve your life. Be on your feet and be the best of all.

Summary of the Movie:
John Rambo has been living a scheduled lifestyle in Bangkok and salvaging old boats and tanks for scrap for twelve years. But when a group of volunteer aid workers bringing supplies into Burma disappear, a relative of the missing missionaries begs Rambo to find them. He heads off with a small team of aspiring heroes to locate and rescue them.

STEP UP 2-THE STREETS (2008)

“Don’t give up, just be you, ‘cause life is too short to be anyone else.”

Comment:
Nowadays, when competition of life is so tight, self branding or a strong character is necessary to be someone who stands up in the crowds. We need to be ourselves. However, it’s never been that easy to be someone with a strong character.
Well, don’t be discouraged because it happens either to ordinary people or even to extraordinary people. But once you’ve found it, it’ll be incredible.
Five For Fighting in one their songs, Superman, described that even Superman finding it’s hard to be his true identity. How come?
Let’s take a look at the lyric below:

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird
I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
And it's not easy to be me
Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
'Bout a home I'll never see
It might sound absurd
But don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed
But won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me
Up, up and away, away from me
Well, it's alright
You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy or anything
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me,
Inside of me, yeah,
Inside of me,
Inside of me,
Inside of me,
I’m only a man in a funny red sheet
I’m only a man looking for a dream
I’m only a man in a funny red sheet
And it’s not easy
It's not easy to be me

Now we know that to be ourselves is hard. Superman found it hard. Yet, he keeps doing good things and keeps saving the world from destruction and that’s what makes him super. Superman and the quotation above indicate us not give up. You need not to be someone else, just be you, be unique and you’ll be super for yourself and anyone else.

Summary of the Movie:
Step up 2: the street is the follow up to the smash hit “step up”, which ignited cinemas in 2006. Nothing in life has come easily for 16-year-old street dancer Andie West (Briana Evigan)-Noting, that is, except dance. After her mother died, she was taken in by her mother’s best friend, Sarah (Sonja Sohn), but for Andie, Sara’s’ house is just one more place she doesn’t belong. Her only real family is her dance crew, The 410, and her guardian angel from the neighborhood, Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum). After Andie skips school for the hundredth time to rehearse with the 410, Sarah tells her she’s enough-She’s sending Andie to live with her aunt in Texas. But luckily for Andie, Tyler steps in and saves the day. He convinces Sarah to let Andie stay in Baltimore if she agrees to end the Maryland School of the Arts. Now all she has to do is get in.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008)

“We never really know anyone, do we?”

Comment:
Did this question ever cross in your mind? We live and interact with the people that we thought we knew really well but in the end they betray us. Somehow I think that communication plays a very important rule here. Wives finaly found out that their husbands had been cheating on them. Business partners got cheated because they thought they knew their partner very well. The way out for spouse is, find a private space and communicate it from heart to heart, face to face, focusing on the problem not the selfishness. And for the business partners? There is a good habit in some successful business men I know. They have custom to invite their business partner and their business partner’s family over dinner. I guess this is the moment to get to know each other better and to communicate their business. If we can’t really know anyone, at least we know someone better right?

Summary of the Movie:

As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organization.

THE LOVE GURU (2008) (c)

“People may say bad things about you, but you must never say bad things about yourself.”

Comment:
What the hell the world is going to be when we all stop believing in ourselves? Then the answer my friend is… the end of the world.
Let’s be honest, do you think Oprah Winfrey is physically beautiful? No, I don’t think she is physically beautiful. However, she believes in her. She believes that she is somehow beautiful in some way. And there she is the richest woman on earth. She donates and supports many foundations. She never says bad thing about herself and other people. She makes the world a better place.
Another example comes from Japan. Not long ago a professor (I don’t remember his name) once made an experiment to two glasses of water. He invited some monks to pray and say good things in front of the first glass. For the second glass of water, he invited some people to curse and condemned the glass of water. What happened to those glasses of water after he examined them under a microscope? The water in the first glass somehow became crystal colored. It’s interesting that the second glass of water turned to black and poison.
Human body is filled most with water. In medicine, body water is all of the water content of the human body. A significant fraction of the human body is water. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water. Blood contains 95% water, body fat contains 14% water and bone has 22% water. The human body is about 60% water in adult males and 55% in adult females (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_water).
Now imagine what would happen if we believe and say bad things about ourselves?
Don’t ever hate yourself. We are gorgeous in our own way. When this feeling suddenly appears, just keep in mind that God is always missing you as better person.

THE LOVE GURU (2008) (b)

“Fate is a joke…the joke is in your hands.”

Comment:
In my opinion, this quotation implies that there is no such thing called fate. Fate is just the just the result of the action. We are all have the ability to control our act. I coincidentally found these sentences when I read “Secret” by Rhonda Byrne.

“Your life is in your hands. No matter where you are now, no matter what has happened in your life, you can begin to consciously choose your thoughts, and you can change your life. There is no such thing as a hopeless situation. Every single circumstance of your life can change!”

Well, at least Guru Pitka and I are not alone about what we think about fate :).
